Last Name:  McCONNELL First:  Charles Middle:  N.

Lot # :  49

Plot # :  4

Gender:  M Birth Name:  McConnell
Born:  About 1864 Died:  Jun 1870 -1 ? Burial Date:  June 19, 1870-1 ?
Notes:  Son of James Edward and Urania McConnell.  Here is a case where there is clearly an error in the ledgers that were transcribed in 1907.  Death year and age are the same for Charles and his sister, Susan, but their burial dates are 3 months apart.  This is not logically possible.  In addition, both children are alive in the 1870 census; Charles is listed as age 6 and Susan is listed as an infant.  I am assuming that the information for Susan is accurate and was mistakenly copied to Charles.  The only unique date for Charles is the burial month and day, so those may be correct.  I have a 1980 family narrative (excerpt below) that says that Charles lived to age 7 and Susan to age 4, which means that Charles died sometime in 1870 or 1871 if he was age 6 at the time of the 1870 census.
Ledger Notes:   Age:  4 Yrs., 3 Mos., 29 Days     Nativity:  Oregon
Family Narrative by Bernice Lavelle Mickelberry in March 1980:
"James Edward McConnell and Urania Jane Gregg were married at the McConnell home by John Boston, Justice of Peace in 1862 in Yamhill Co., Oregon.  They filed on a homestead and lived on that property a short time.  Then they purchased a farm in Clackamas County Ore. and lived there the remainder of their lives.  To them were born Rosie, Charlie, Mary, Lawrence, Susie, Stella, Orin, Lillie and Dollie.  Rosie and Dollie lived only a few months.  Charlie lived to age 7 and Susie to age 4.  Stella worked at the Sherwood Post Office for her postmaster brother, Lawrence.  She died at age 41 of leakage of the heart.  She never married.  The McConnell's and Greggs lived near one another.  James was a scout in the Indian war around Walla Walla, Wash.  He died of consumption in 1900 at age 62.  Jane, (Urania) called Aunt Jane by the community of Sherwood, lived to hold baby Terry Larsen, her first great great grandchild, great grandson of Orin.  She died in 1937 in the old farm home where she had lived for 70 years or more."
Monument is missing but burial is recorded in the ledgers.
