to Elias Steinbaugh. Same style. Had "gone underground". Removed sod covering it.
Family Contribution:
Edward & Mary were married 16 Dec 1875 in Nebraska.  He was the son of John & Susanna Bullock Loney.  They were in Nebraska until 1880, appear in California in 1900, and must have moved to Oregon shortly thereafter.  The Steinbaughs appear to have moved from Nebraska to California about 1876, then to Oregon shortly after the 1900 census.

OLDEST MAN IN OREGON
Edward Loney, of Wilsonville, Born October 28, 1804
Wilsonville, Or., April 9.--The friends of Edward Loney, who is a farmer at this place, assert that he is the oldest man living in Oregon, being 98 years old. He was born in Gilford County, N. C., October 24, 1804, and came to Wilsonville, where he has a farm of 80 acres, about 20 years ago. He has been three times married, but all his wives are dead. His oldest son, aged about 70, lives in Nebraska, and one son and a daughter live in Oregon.
Two years ago Mr. Loney fell off a landing while leaving a steamer at Oregon City, and was so severely injured that he has not been able to walk since. Still, Mr. Loney enjoys fairly good health, and reads with the aid of a magnifying glass. He is well liked in the community.

Family Contribution from Becky Siple:
Obituary:
Death of a Pioneer (Oregon City Enterprise, 25 Jan 1895, pg 2 (roll 6)). "Died at her home in Pleasant Hill, January 16, 1895, Mary A. Loney, aged 70 years. Deceased has been a pioneer in several states, having been married three times. She was a Miss Mary A. Thompson, then Mrs. McNellie, then Mrs. John Moreland and for the last eighteen or twenty years the faithful and true wife of Edward Loney, who is now in his 94th year. Mr. Loney also has lived to bury this, his third wife. Mrs. Loney has been sick the past summer and her death has been expected now for the last month. The funeral was held Thursday at 12 o'clock at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery."

Additional Info:
Edward & Mary were married 16 Dec 1875 in Nebraska.  He was the son of John & Susanna Bullock Loney.  They were in Nebraska until 1880, appear in California in 1900, and must have moved to Oregon shortly thereafter.  The Steinbaughs appear to have moved from Nebraska to California about 1876, then to Oregon shortly after the 1900 census.
The Loneys were pioneers, just not Oregon pioneers, having moved in their lifetimes from North Carolina, and Kentucky to Ohio, Indiana, Nebraska, & California, then Oregon.
