Source: I inherited a "Time Capsule" scrapbook with original newspaper articles, weddings, and the obituaries of all the above stated people, and SO many more. My 2 greats grandmother, Emma Jane Bell-Boyse kept it from the Civil War to 1938 when she died. I inherited it, and another scrapbook covering the WW2 years of Sellwood, kept by my Aunt Virginia Still-Garkie and over 500 photos of my family.
My 2 greats grandparents, Emma Jane Bell-Boyse and John McKee Boyse came and settled in Wilsonville in 1874 from Hamilton, Hancock Co., Illinois. He operated a sawmill and flouring mill at Wilsonville. By 1879 her parents and all siblings followed. They are all in the 1880 Federal Census in Pleasant Hill. I would love to see a plot map of exactly where they lived if one exists !! Robert Bell operated a mill at Boones Ferry.
My genealogy website - SherriDuree.com - - SEE "My Mother's Family" button - Bell and Boyse from maternal side. I am a retired RN and since 2001, genealogy has been an extensive full time job on both maternal and paternal sides. |
